Fire District is reinvesting in residents' safety.
Claremore, OK - Tuesday, contractors began the work installing four additional fire hydrants – paid for by the Limestone Fire Protection District – along SH-20. Work will begin at the southeast corner of SH-20 and N. 193rd East Avenue.
This year, Limestone Fire Protection District will pay for the installation of four hydrants. They hope to fund another 10 hydrants next year.
Limestone officials say that the additional hydrants will improve their access to water, thereby enhancing their fire suppression capabilities. When responding to a fire in an area without hydrants, Limestone firefighters must rely on tanker trucks – which range from 1,200 to 2,000 gallons – for water.
